Do I have anything to worry about trying CrossFit?
People are worried they're not yet fit or strong enough to try it. Well, guess what, everyone was once a beginner, and you will only improve by trying. If you find yourself a good CrossFit affiliate, they should have a welcoming and highly qualified team of staff to make you feel welcome and at ease regardless of your current level of strength and fitness. They want to help you improve and get better and will have the tools to help you get there and should offer a beginners programme to get the process started for you to meet you at the level you're at. Trust them, and you won't regret it.

How Fit Do I Need To Be To Start CrossFit?
CrossFit is a general physical preparation strength and conditioning programme that offers individuals the opportunity to create a balanced range of fitness qualities. The most common question that I receive from new people interested in starting it is whether they need to possess a certain starting level of fitness to begin their journey. In my opinion, the answer is no, and you don't. Why? Because if that were the case, you would probably never start because you would never quite feel "fit enough."

"The best time to start was yesterday, the next best time to start is now"

The beautiful thing about CrossFit is that it gives you the ability to keep improving your fitness attributes across a lifetime. You may walk into your local CrossFit gym on day one not knowing anything, but if you have good coaches at your disposal, they will help teach you over time new skills and exercises to help improve your fitness. Amazingly you will always feel like you are not fit enough, but that is usually down to the fact that with increasing levels of strength and fitness you will continue to push yourself in ways you never thought possible.

Where Can I Do CrossFit In Cardiff?

CrossFit should always be completed under the guidance of a qualified instructor at a CrossFit licensed facility known as an affiliate.

There are five affiliated CrossFit gyms in the Cardiff area, but each one is very different from the other. Each uses the CrossFit methodology to drive its delivery of fitness but the environment and community in each are all very unique with no one the same as the next.

I think this is a good thing, as for you the customer it is essential that you find a CrossFit facility that you can go to that suits your personality and how you would like to be coached in exercise.

My suggestion to you is to arrange a FREE taster session and shop around a bit. Most good CrossFit facilities will offer this and a form of initial consultation to get to know you and your wants and needs, and this is great for you to establish the "feel" of the gym and the coaches and other members there.

An excellent CrossFit facility, in my opinion, will not only offer you the opportunity to do this but they will also have a welcoming community that makes you feel comfortable and at home (we know how daunting it can be going somewhere for the first time, but don't forget everyone was new at some point).

If you're interested in arranging a free consultation and taster session at The Boat Shed, please don't hesitate to get in touch but clicking the GET A FREE SESSION tab above and leaving us your details so we can get in touch.
