CrossFit South Wales

The M4 corridor was once a bare land for CrossFit facilities. I remember in early 2010 having to drive all the way to Swansea just to get my hands on a barbell and bumper plates to do some Weightlifting!

Since CrossFit’s popularity growth since 2010, you can now find a CrossFit facility at almost every junction from Newport to Swansea and further!

This is only a good thing as far as I am concerned as it means there are options for the general public to get themselves into a facility where they will be COACHED in fitness and not just left to their own devices like they would in a traditional commercial gym.

CrossFit in South Wales is, in my opinion, the leaders in the U.K for the facilities it has to offer. We have some of the most experienced coaches and earliest founders based on this side of the bridge who have a lot of skin in the game.

Cardiff is a hotspot for CrossFit in South Wales

CrossFit facility in South Wales has developed from small garage facilities or studios into professional large-scale spaces over nearly the last decade with many expanding their operations to offer more than just 1 or 2 classes a day. You now see affiliates in South Wales open full time with services that have expanded to offer Weightlifting, Nutrition, Yoga and Personal Training services on a daily basis. What was once a side hustle is now a full-time profession.

CrossFit in South Wales offers people the ability to develop their fitness in a broad range of ways. It takes elements of Weightlifting, Bodyweight Gymnastics and traditional forms of cardiovascular training such as running, rowing & cycling and puts them into the same workout. This is not something that can be done in your commercial gym setting and CrossFit has allowed more accessibility for Joe Bloggs to experience this regardless of where you live in South Wales.

Find a CrossFit gym in South Wales

When I first started training in South Wales and wanted to do CrossFit no such thing existed. I had to go to the park or the fields to run, I had to go to a gymnastics centre to do pull-ups and handstand work and I had to go to a Weightlifting club to touch a barbell. Nowadays you can do all of this underneath one roof thanks to the fantastic facilities we have in South Wales.

If you want to try this out I strongly encourage you to take the first steps and get in touch with your local CrossFit affiliates wherever you live in South Wales, whether it's in the city or in the more rural valley areas. Most CrossFit South Wales gyms offer free taster sessions and would love to help you get started on your fitness journey.
