<p>I will try and do my best to explain our approach to this over the next 5 weeks of competition. If I miss anything out please let me know.</p>
<p><strong>Schedule-</strong></p>
<p>We will be performing the Open workouts every <strong>THURSDAY</strong> during our classes and this is how they will fit in each week. This seems to fit in best for us as a gym as many of you rest on a Wednesday and it does not interrupt our normal programming. We will continue to programme 6 days a week (Mon-Sat) with the Open workout just fitting into that. I WILL be programming for you to continue to improve and become better at what we do and we will use this next 5 weeks as an opportunity to improve and therefore treat the Open WODs as a worldwide barometer that will help you test your strengths and weaknesses and show you where you need to or have improved. In case you have not read the rule book; the WODs will be announced on the Wednesday of every week and must be performed and validated by Sunday night. If you cannot perform the workout on the Thursday I will be arranging other times each week during open gym time in which you can come in and be judged on the workout. Please don&#8217;t panic if you can&#8217;t make the classes, all you need to do is have a word with me! On the flip side if you&#8217;re panicing please can you email or facebook me on <strong>pete@theboatshedfitness.co.uk</strong> because there are so many of you now (competing or not competing in the open) who want to do the workout please do not text me as trying to reply to 60+ different people via text message is incredibly hard! Grab me for a word in the gym instead </p>
<p>For the 1st workout (i.e. this week) if you cannot make Thursday&#8217;s classes I will be running <strong>open gym between 4-6pm on Friday and 11am-1pm on Sunday</strong> for you to come in and be judged. Everyone will be briefed on movement standards prior to doing each workout.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Over the weekend of the 29th/30th October the Boat Shed attended the annual &#8220;Divided We Fall Games&#8221; held at CrossFit Velocity in Swansea. This is a team CrossFit event at which teams compete in  various different workouts combing elements of weightlifting, gymnastics and monostructural aspects (aka CV- running, rowing, biking, swimming and skipping)  We entered 3 teams consisting each of 3 males and 1 female.</p>
<p>This time last year we were un-affiliated and only entered one team, so for us to enter three this year was a great achievement especially as many of our members have only been CrossFitting for between 3-8 months and are still very young compared to many of the athletes competing who in contrast have been involved in the sport for 2 + years!<br />
It was a huge learning curve not only for everyone involved from our affiliate but also for us as coaches. It has given us the confidence that we are doing within our affiliate and programme is working but also given us areas on which we know need some attention now.  Everyone certainly came away with increased motivation to better themselves and to be better prepared next time this event rolls around. </p>
<p>I am massively proud of each and every person who represented our small gym- seeing you throw down and prove your fitness with some of the big names in the game was fantastic. You all did yourselves and your gym proud and should take as much as you can from this weekend.<br />
Although we did not make the cut off to day 2 our teams finished a respectable 53rd, 55th and 69th out of 84 competing teams. Not bad at all! </p>
<p>The sense of community and support not only between our gym and also the rest of the UK CrossFit community was evident throughout the weekend and this is what drives the growth of athletes and also the sport as a whole. </p>
<p>I look forward to helping you all continue to grow as people and athletes and if there is every any area which you feel I am not providing this in please let me know.</p>
<p>Below is a video that was put together showing some highlights of the weekend- see if you can spot one of our Boat Shed teams! It shows a truly supportive community of people who salute the effort put in by other people.</p>
<p>Finally for those of you who might be sitting on the fence wondering whether you want to try CrossFit- do get in touch, we offer weekly taster sessions in which you can try a workout which you will be taken through with one of our highly qualified coaches.</p>
<p>All our workouts and movements are universally scaleable which means that anyone can CrossFit regardless of current ability.</p>

<p>We run free tasters for members and non-members every week and<br />
these sessions last an hour and cover the principles of CrossFit and how it can fit into and benefit your training regardless of your current level of fitness. </p>
<p>You can do these sessions either on your own or in a small group and they will always be fun and exciting!</p>
