F.A.Q’s

Here you’ll find some of the common questions we get asked and hopefully some useful information. If you have a question that you do not find answered here then please contact us and ask away.

I’m a new member, why do I have to attend the fundamental classes and how long until I can join the other classes?
At the boat shed we are trying to set a standard and ensure that members get the most from our classes. By ensuring all new members attend the fundamental classes first we can monitor your progress. When you are ready to move to the main class timetable you will not only get more out of them, be familiar with the exercises and equipment used but the risk of injury will have been drastically reduced. It may just take 1 fundamental course (3 x 1 hour sessions) or it may take more depending on your own individual progress.

I’m not a member but would like to attend a class. Do I still have to attend the fundamental classes?

Yes. Our goal is to help people achieve their goals and that means making sure everyone is safe first.

Why can’t I use the gym at anytime like a commercial gym?
Many of you will have been a member of a large commercial gym before. Ask yourself this simple question. ‘Whilst being a member at (insert as needed) how close did I actually get to reaching the goal I joined in the first place for?” By maintaining the focus on coached group sessions we can ensure that you get a focused workout. We’re different from other gyms and our members are different because of our gym.

How do I join?
Pop down and see us. We can have a chat about the best membership option for you and get started on the paperwork. We don’t currently have the facility to except cards until the online system arrives so it’s cash or cheque only. After which you will be required to make a standing order payment to us on the first of every month.

What is the minimum length of membership?
At the BSTC we’ve been training people long enough to know that results don’t happen overnight, sorry we wish we’d invented that pill too, but we do know that in a 3 month timescale you can get amazing results. If after 3 months you decide to leave all we ask is 1 month notice of cancellation. If after the initial 3 months you do not attend the gym for a period of 2 months your membership will be cancelled. We care about your results not your money.

Do I have to be a member to have personal training?
No. We’ve tried to make the BSTC as flexible as possible for people to use. You benefit from discounts on personal training options by being a member but anybody can be personally trained here. If you are looking for personal training please contact us at: info@theboatshedfitness.co.uk contact us here.

How do I book for classes?
You do not have to book for any classes once you have completed your fundamentals. If you are interested however in doing your fundamentals this requires booking so please call us or drop us an email with your interest.

Do you have changing facilities?
Yes, we have changing rooms which contain 2 showers in each, mirrors and multiple electrical points for hairdryers etc.
